Desk assistants can be hired at any time, although there is typically a higher demand for "deskies" from mid-summer through the start of the academic year.
Resident assistants, scholarship hall proctors and scholarship hall food board managers typically have a couple of annual hiring cycles:
- Student Housing hires the greatest number of RAs, proctors and food board managers for the start of each school year. That hiring process begins annually in December and students begin work before move-in day the following August. Some of those employees will graduate or move on after the fall semester, so
- Student Housing also hires a few employees who are current residents to start work in the spring semester beginning each January. That hiring process typically starts in October when the application opens.
Students find out about the hiring opportunities through targeted emails, Student Housing's Instagram, the parent newsletter, and word of mouth from current staff members.
Student employment can be a rewarding way to give back to your fellow Jayhawks, learn leadership skills, and, for some employees, also take advantage of free room and board. Join our flock!
